Cause/Affect: TedXSanDiego 2012

On December 1, 2012, over 600 people gathered for the third annual  TEDxSanDiego.  Our theme:  Cause & Affect; our goal:  to highlight and emphasize the ability for individual’s to have an impact on some part of the world.

Over 20 speakers and performers, including Ken Blanchard, Matt Emerzian, Ben Sollee, and Unknown Lyric came together to present four sessions:

  • Affect/Awareness – fascinating discoveries, new ideas, and social causes
  • Cause/Action – heroic individual acts, those that saw an opportunity and acted
  • Cause/Belief – perspectives on the human mind/spirit, our shared humanity and social connections
  • Affect/Possibility – jaw-dropping technologies, activities and events that stretch the notion of what is possible

It was an experience like no other.  Here are just a few of the comments from participants:

It was very encouraging, in several ways, to see the finest of human motivations, and abilities, brought together in an atmosphere of sharing, causing, affecting.

“Transformative, creative, and inspirational.”

“It was heaven.”

“An ‘Intellectual Disneyland'”

“Pure Inspiration. Confirmation that I can make a difference and affect positive change, no matter how big or small my actions might be. And that by connecting with others who have similar goals, I can make an even bigger difference.”

Once again I had the privilege of being part of team that worked on the event. Here’s a slideshow recap of the day (sorry some of the images are lacking in quality — my excitement didn’t lend itself to a steady hand all the time!)

Thank you to the amazing speakers and performers — to everyone who made this extraordinary experience possible.
