It’s Time to Rethink Your Business

At a talk I gave a couple of weeks ago, I explained that companies could connect more emotionally, and more meaningfully, with customers if they constantly addressed the question, “what business are we really in?”  The question, first raised by Theodore Levitt a former professor at the Harvard Business School, is one of the most provocative and productive in helping business leaders establish and maintain competitive advantage.  But in my 25 years of work across a range of companies, I’ve found that leaders find it somewhat daunting.  In this article I wrote for SmartBlog on Leadership, I suggest three more digestible questions that help people re-think their businesses and assemble the bigger picture of growth opportunities.  Please check it out and let me know if it’s helpful to you.
