Fast-casual restaurant chain Firehouse Subs is…on fire! Founded by firemen, the 450+ unit chain had a record-breaking 2011 with increases in same-store sales, AUVs, restaurants opened, and donations made through its Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. In today’s interview, CEO Don Fox joins me to share some of the secrets behind the brand’s success.
It was so interesting to hear:
- Don’s take on the key elements of fast-casual dining
- why and how the company started the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation
- about the inspirational crew rallies they’ve held to engage their employees and franchisees

Hello Denise,
Thank you for sharing.
I like the concept in bringing and rallying the employees together!
This gives the average worker some subsistence, that you normally don’t find.
A sense of good friendship…
Future businesses, I would hope to follow!
