I view The Good Sheet as an attempt to get a bit of the coffee house vibe going in the local Starbucks by giving people something "meaty" to talk about while they order and sip their lattes. It has to be controversial to do that. Will it work? I don't know, but I like what I see as the motivation here.

I was struck by the number of brands promoting "Good" lately, and wrote about it when it first launched last month on my blog - http://retailhitsandmisses.blogspot.com/2008/09/good-is-in.html

By the way, since you mentioned Benetton, have you been in a store lately? I was hugely disappointed to see it has become just another expensive women's clothing boutique. No controversial imagery, no idealistic messaging. At least they used to stand for something. Now, there's absolutely no reason to stop by or care.
